Strange Angels Series

Sixteen-year-old Dru Anderson has the touch...

A sixth sense that drives her from town to town to hunt ghosts, vampires, wulfen and even the occasional zombie.

But Dru's life changes forever when her father is killed and evil literally comes knocking on her back door. She goes on the run on a cold Dakota night before arriving at a safe-haven- or deadly trap- of a school for wulfen and djamphir. Dru's beginning to realize that the touch may not be the only special power she posesses. For the tables have turned, and now Dru's the one being hunted.

She's got two people she can trust:goth boy Graves, whose wulf bite has changed his nature but not his feelings for Dru; and protective Cristophe, who'll use his razor-sharp fangs to take out anyone who so much as sniffs in Dru's direction. Trouble is, Graves and Cristophe don't trust each other... and with stakes this high, there's no room for distraction. Not if Dru's going to stay alive long enough to choose between them...

So naturally, this book is everything tween girls want in a series. You've got the love triangle, you've got the vampire and the werewolves and then you got crazy zombie things mixed in and even some magic something something in there also. It's a plethora of paranormal shiz in a series.

I personally, like the crap out of this series. Not only does it touch base with that little giddy girl inside me that wants to read this stuff, but it's actually decently written and has interesting events within the series.

Now, I know I said this in my post yesterday that I'm sick of series like these now...but in my own defense, I re-read these earlier in the year before I deployed, as well as the year before that. My tastes change constantly! Plus, it's not Twilight bullshiz.

What I enjoy most out of this series is the fact that Dru can stand her own ground. She's very opinionated and outspoken, and like any other person who struggles through a hard time, she make's mistakes but learns from them and grows. And although you might get the idea that there's some weird love triangle thing going down, it's not so drawn out like other novels with the same template. Dru knows what's right for her and what she should be doing to put the pieces together to come to a suitable conclusion and overall resolve to her life and her story.

I'm sad that the covers are as cheesy as they are though.....the first two books I got in a double binding with a very classy, simple cover and I freaking love the way it looks. And like the shy, recluse kid I am, I hate reading books with cheesy, over the top sort of annoyingly young adult-esque book covers that I JUST KNOW people will comment on should they see it in my hands.

Anyways, I love these books and I recommend them. But definitely keep in mind that these are tuned for a much younger crowd (generally teeny boppers to say 16 or 17). Although, of course,  I read them and I'm almost 21...there's definitely a gap in what I would have wanted at that age, as well as the age I'm at now.
