THE FALLOUT by S.A. Bodeen

Eli and his family lived in an underground shelter they called the Compound for six years. They thought they were the only survivors of a nuclear attack, but when Eli learned that it was all a twisted experiment orchestrated by his tech-visionary father, he broke the family out. His father died trying to keep them imprisoned.
Now, the family must readjust to life in the real world. Their ordeal has made them so famous, they must stay in hiding—everyone from fatalists preparing for doomsday to the tabloid media wants a piece of them. Even worse, their father’s former adviser continues to control the company Eli and his twin brother are the heirs of.
As Eli tries to determine who the family can trust, he learns the nightmare of the Compound—and his father’s experiment—might not be over. The Fallout is S.A. Bodeen's highly anticipated, thrilling sequel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Now I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I thought it progressed well enough, and there was some nice moments between characters. I overall really enjoyed the fact that this book addresses post traumatic stress, and overall agoraphobia considering their time underground within the Compound.

Although it does have some good assets, I felt like it could have taken a step further to reaaalllyy get into the nitty gritty about PTSD and the overall effects of being underground for 6 years.....also just the overcoming and accepting what happened to them all and who their father really was.

Now I like Eli. I do. I wish he wasn't so passive at times, but when the moment calls for him to do something which he thinks is right, he is fully accepting of the moment and takes charge.

I disliked his surrounding cast though, particularly his sitter Lexie. Her little subplot was mostly annoying, she was naive and selfish and conceited and just really pissed me off because in the end Eli just played into it. Also with Eddy, although there was an AWESOME (!!!) face-off between the two, there were other times where I wanted that same intensity. It's right for him to be angry, so it made me confused as to why he rarely ever really was.

But the climax was interesting, it didn't necessarily surprise me, but it was nice once it was all revealed and I finally put two and two together.

I'm also really happy about a certain characters exit from the story. It made me laugh in spite of everything.

Anyways I think this duology is messed up but it's so interesting because it's seriously something everyone freaks out over now a days with buyout bins, underground bunkers and the zombie apocalypse or economic collapse. If you have't read this series I suggest you do just for how messed up it is and how it will get you thinking.

I give it a 4 out of 5! So there were a few things I didn't like, I just wished they were better, but I still enjoyed it and read the whole thing in one night!
